Symbol position
To make changes to where symbols appear, open "preferences" from the SymbolGo group in the ribbon:

Make the changes you want to make, and then choose "Close". This will close the preferences box and save your changes.

After you have changed any settings and closed the preferences box, you can get the symbols to realign by clicking in a text box and choosing "Tidy Text" - see below.
Above/below
When you symbolise text in a text box, the picture(s)/symbol(s) will appear above or below it depending on what you set in SymbolGo preferences.
In the preferences box, choose either "Text below symbol", or "Text above symbol".
Symbols location
You can change where symbols appear in relation to blocks of text. The options are:
- Above (or below) a text box.
- Above (or below) paragraphs in a text box.
- Above (or below) individual words in a text box.
Where you want to clarify or cue someone into the meaning of some text, it will usually be preferable to have the symbols appearing either above the text box or above paragraphs. You would choose key words in the block of text and symbolise those.
Above/below text box
Symbols will align to the centre of a text box.
Above/below paragraph
Symbols will follow the text alignment of the paragraph - that is left, centre, or right. The default alignment for a new text box in PowerPoint is usually left (where regional settings are for left-right typed languages).
You can set the alignment of text in a paragraph by going to the "Paragraph" group in the PowerPoint Home tab and choosing one of the alignment icons.
Above/below individual words
Symbols will align to the centre of individual words.
Symbol spacing
You can set the minimum spacing for symbols relative to the text that is being symbolised, relative to the next (or previous) line of text (where applicable), and relative to each other.
Tidying up symbols associated with a text box
If you have deleted some symbols, moved them around, or changed a symbols placement option, you can tidy up the symbol locations by clicking on the text box and choosing "Tidy Text". You can find this option on the SymbolGo tab, or by clicking on the small arrow at the bottom right of the SymbolGo group on the Home tab.
