If you end up with two sets of symboliser buttons next to each other in the PowerPoint ribbon this is most probably because you installed the "personal" version of the symboliser (using the "exe" installer) and then at some later point, the standard version (using the "msi" installer) was installed. Having two sets of buttons may also result in PowerPoint showing error messages when it starts.


To remove the duplicate buttons:

  • Open PowerPoint.
  • Go to the add-ins list:
    • go to File → Options (maybe bottom left) → Add-ins.
    • next to "Manage:", select "PowerPoint Add-ins" in the drop down box, then click "Go...".
  • Select "commtap-symboliser" and then click on "Remove".
  • Click on "Close" and you are done.
